Quilts in Spring 2006

People at last years Quilts in Spring Every two years we hold our annual Quilts in Spring show. This years show was held on the weekend of the 12th and 13th of May, and despite the unpredictable weather was our busiest and best event yet. The Southport Quilters would like to say a big thank you for everyone who turned up and made Quilts in Spring 2006 such a massive success.

This year we attracted literally hundreds of people, including interested members of the local community and Quilting enthusiasts travelling from further afield.

This years Charity Quilt was on display which drew a lot of attention. The members of the Southport Quilters each contribute a panel, which is then combined to make a large and beautiful quilt which was raffled to raise money for MacMillian Cancer Support.

The Southport Quilters support Project Linus. Named after the famous character from The Peanuts, Project Linus give handmade quilts and blankets to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.

The Southport Quilters displayed some of the lovely quilts at the show which they have made to be donated to needy childen through the UK chapter of Project Linus. A gallery of a selection these quilts is now available on our site.
