Quilts in Spring 2010
Preparations are underway for our fast approaching 5th QUILTS IN SPRING Show and 2010 will see some thing new and different. In addition to our usual display of latest works, QUILTS IN SPRING will include ASPECTS OF SPRING, our exhibition of ‘suitcase quilts’, no larger than 24inches by 24inches. Many different techniques, styles and patterns will be used to illustrate our interpretation of spring. The suitcase collection will be on show to members at our 20th Anniversary Celebrations in April.
Our shows are always very well attended, visitor numbers increasing with each Show and over the years we have raised several thousands of pounds, in addition to that raised from any quilts donated to individual charities. As 2010 is also Southport Quilters 20th Anniversary, we are aiming to make this Show our best yet. Our Shows are not only popular with Quilters, but also with other crafters and folk who just enjoy seeing the work and appreciate the skills and expertise involved. Some are inspired to take up the art. It is a fun day out for all the family and enjoyed especially by children, eager to point out the quilt patterns they would like and their choice of colours too! There will be a chance to vote for your favourite quilts and the results will be posted on this website.
Our 2010 Show will have, apart from our exhibitions, our very popular Handicrafts tables, well stocked with a wide range of wares for sale, handmade cushions, Fabric traders, Plants and our now famous FAT QUARTER TEA ROOM will yet again be well stocked with Tea, Coffee and soft drinks, a wide range of homemade cakes, tea breads, and scones, together with a selection of fresh barm cakes supplied each day by a local bakery.
A number of Charities will be nominated by our membership to receive a financial donation, depending on the amount raised from the event. In order that supporters of the chosen Charities have the chance to visit our show and see our work, they will be informed well in advance of the show.

By car : – 17 miles North of Liverpool, and a similar distance South of Preston. The car park entrance is on Sandon Road, just round the corner from the church. Roadside parking is not metered.

By rail : – Nearest stations are Birkdale and Hillside on the Northern Line. A bus service runs from the station in Birkdale Village and bus stops are very close to the venue. There is not a taxi rank or cab office in the village or Hillside.

Saturday, May 22nd, 10am- 5pm
ADMISSION
Admission is still only £1, with free admission for children under 12 accompanying an adult. Entry is through the front door of the church.
If you unable to visit our show, the Southport Quilters Gallery will be updated following the event with full size images of some of the quilts exhibited, along with photos from previous shows and our members work.
